Choosing the correct foundation!!

This can be one of the most difficult things that a woman has to face especially if you have dark skin. I went on a shopping spree, in december when everything was on sale, to purchase different brands of foundations and bb creams to see which one was the best. I will blog about my review of those foundations later on.
I tried different foundation and i realised that even when different brands promised that they catered for dark skin that their products would come out otherwise. I found that most of the foundations leave our skin with that ashy look, like you applied a white powder! The tone and colour of the foundation would be perfect but after you apply it you then notice the ashy undertone. Ladies with dark skins do well to look for foundations that has yellow, red or orange undertone because that will look natural and it wont leave you with that ashy look!

How do you then choose that perfect foundation?

Dont make the mistake of testing your foundation on your hand but rather do it on your jawline. The reason for this is that the skin colour and  tone of your hand is different from your face. If you are not sure of the foundation colour, just make sure that you take different colours and go to the mirror and test it on your jawline and see which colour blends better with your skin. The trick is, if you cant see where you applied the foundation or if its just melted on your skin, then, thats the right foundation!!

You can choose to buy powder to complement your liquid foundation, unless you bought the cream to powderfoundation.

Should i  choose liquid foundation, mousse, or cream foundation?

It all depends on your skin type. Do you have oily , combination , normal or dry skin? If you have oily, combination skin or normal skin then you can choose liquid or mousse. But if you have dry skin then you can choose cream foundation. You will find that the colour of your foundation and type changes from one season to the next. You might be dark in summer and then more oily which will definitely mean you choose a darker foundation than the one you applied in winter and you might need to apply mousse than the cream you applied in winter. Always listen to your skin in terms of texture and moisture.

So which foundation is better in terms of our dark skin?? Well let me make a review of all my foundations and i will tell you which one was better and what are some of the things that must determine if a foundation is good or not.

What foundation are you using at the moment and is it working for you? Please share your thoughts with me.
