Using Bentonite Clay as Face Mask

What is Bentonite Clay Mask?

It is a clay mask made from Bentonite which draws excess oils and debris to the surface of your skin, boosts circulation to tighten the skin and stimulate blood flow, and whisks away dead skin cells that can clog pores.

So that is the explanation that i got! I watch a lot of tutorials and new ways that  can improve our health and what needs to be done when you are on a budget and want to take good care of yourself. I must admit though that i got a little bit worried when i watched a tutorial of a pretty lady who was doing her hair treatment and used  bentonite clay as a hair mask. She mixed it with apple cider vinegar which i thought it was very clever because apple cider vinegar is clarifying and very good for the scalp even when you have scalp problems. Alright, the part that shocked me is when she applied the same mask on her face and used it as a face mask. I thought, oright......this is interesting!! Her skin looked nicer though afterward.

Since i did beauty i thought and i asked myself if that was very prudent??? So i told myself that i must definitely try this and then write about my experience. First it was scary because we never learned about apple cider vinegar for the face but hey, she didn't look burned or anything, so why not?

So i took 2 tablespoons of the clay and mixed with a bit of ACV, but the smell was burning my eyes already and it wasn't even mixed properly. I then decided to use lemon juice  then dropped few drops of coconut oil because i have a combination skin. The mixture was thoroughly mixed but i could smell that ACV!! I went to my bathroom and applied it after i washed my face. Thank goodness i didn't scrub my face before applying that mask!! I applied a mask all over my face except the eye area and my lips. While i was applying it, i had tears running down already from the vinegar. I was wiping my eyes every now and then. I at least stuck it out a bit for at least 4 minutes and i couldn't take it anymore. I HAD TO WASH MY FACE, QUICKLY!!

So i did, with cold water because my face was feeling hot already and the smell was making me teary!! After washing i felt like placing an ice bag on my face. I applied rosewater mixed with glycerine and left my face alone. The sensation lasted for a good 15 minutes or so!

So what is my verdict? After the burning and teary eyes, my face looked brighter and soft. So i will definitely use the clay again. I will NEVER APPLY VINEGAR ON MY FACE, EVER AGAIN. The clay is definitely a good mask but i will definitely mix it with ingredients such as honey, oatmeal and use filter water or rosewater or witch hazel to mix it.

The next time i make my treatment will be this week and i will definitely mix honey which is a humectant and few drops of lemon for brightening and rosewater for calming. I must write down my experience with that and see how it goes. I was also interested in the prepacked masks that they sell at dischem and i want to try them out and see which mask is really the best and is reasonable.

I think i learned an important lesson....(hiding!)......
